Nothing Worth Having
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?”
Sigh.
But does it have to first tear you
apart
And drag you from where you were, back
to the start?
Does it have to sound like a
travelling dart
When it hits that board and punctures your
heart?
Does it have to taste so unpleasant and
cursed
And feel like the distress of hunger
or thirst?
Does it have to look like the absolute
worst
Because it’s not meant to be easy at
first?
“Nothing worth having comes easy, right?”
Sigh.
But what if you don’t make it to the
other side?
Where it’s done giving you such a rough
ride
And stops making your desires feel
like a crime
When it’s ready to come into your life
And settle like it’s been yours the
whole time
When it’s reached the end of its
rollercoaster ride
And the waves calm down after that
high tide
When it decides that you are worthy
To be it...
To own it…
To finally have it…
What if you never make it through that
night?
And you die
Before the greener side?
Is that something even worth having
then?
